I was just thinking about the global crysis. For who lost the job, is more easy to find another job, maybe related to the last. For someone(like me) who need to find job NOW, in this situation, it's very difficult to find a job starting from zero..that's because the great number of people free and the lowering number of company.. what do you think about? it's a good time to start your own business?

Working for yourself instead of putting money into someone else's pocket is always a better choice. Not so easy to do though. You have to find something that people need and want. Whether an item or a service. Because the global job loss numbers are at such a staggering rate (and probably not going to improve any time soon), the service industry is probably not a good idea. The only people who ever use "services" generally tend to be those with money. Logically speaking, that's why you'd want to supply the wealthy with some sort of "service" because they've got the money. However, when things get difficult (economically speaking) the rich tend to hoard their money even more. So, find an item to sell, produce or manufacture. Food, clothing, anything for kids. Those are the areas that will always need something. My grandmother was a whiz at these kinds of things! She could create the most interesting things. She'd carry them around with her and just show them to people. Tiny things. Handmade with virtually no cost. She'd sell hundreds! At any rate, hope you find what you're looking for!

That's true, but sad. The prerequisite to start something is to have a good amount of money under your back! that's because starting a business is expensive, and usually, you have not the safety that your business will grow..that's the price for investing money: you will NEVER have the safety, but usually a major income compared to "work under a boss"... thanks for your answer :-)

Nothing in this life is guaranteed. Hundreds of my friends walked into work one day to discover they had been "laid off". All at different companies, different places. There just is no job security. It is sad. There are a lot of businesses that don't need a lot of money up front to begin. It really has a lot to do with where you live, local economy, supply and demand. All that stuff. I haven't had a boss for 10 years now. I decided to start my own business. It cost me about $75 to have a sign made. I put it up outside my house and had my first customer 2 days later. I work at home and am my own boss. Anything is possible!

I think you was lucky, that's because the reality where i live(Italy) reward only who like to do nothing and for high price. That's because the centralized state (the public administration) can give job placed assured FOR LIFE, where you can do NOTHING, you just need to have recommendations to take it(or you will never take it!). Trying to open a new business is really an hard matter, your point is true, but in a state of merit, where who do the god think at lowest price can sell, and not where the most recommended sell the baddest thing at highest place :-(
