pool is a great game and its alot of fun. the great thing about it is that everyone plays it, its a universal sport and people from all backgrounds find someone they first thought they had nothing in common with around a pool table. no one on here will be able to provide you with an ample understanding of the rules, but i assume that you understand the game basically consists of striking balls witha cue stick on a table with cloth and rubber bumpers. the word "pool" is short for pocket billiards, which is a category under Cue Sports. differet cue sports consist of pool (pocket billiards), carom billiards (played on tables with no pockets), and snooker. you can get the best and most detailed rules from the billiard congress of americ (BCA), which is the governing body on billiards in the US. the game is very frustrating if you don't have the patience for it, it requires alot of self discipline and you need to put in alot of practice time if you want to be good at it. you should watch some vids on youtube and read up online for more info. be careful tho, the game is very addicting.

Hello vinslounge!! i have played billiards a couple of times and i thoroughly enjoyed it. We have very good players here in our country. Efren "Bata" Reyes and Alex Pagulayan are recognized internationally for this sports. the rules are pretty simple, if its a nine-ball game, you will only have ten balls on the table. the balls from 1 to 9 and the cue ball (white one) is the tenth ball. first player will then make the first shot using the cue ball, if any numbered balls were pocketed in the table during the shot, first palyer will continue making the shots, starting on the lowest numbered ball on the table. if first player commits a foul, like not hitting the lowest numbered ball, or pocketing the cue ball in the table, the second player then makes the shot. The player who pockets the ninth ball in the table will be the winner. i'm sorry if my rules are not clear. it's easier to play than to explain. lol. i hope you try it too coz it's really fun!!
