why people are so careless

I am not careless but sometimes I can be careless too with small things like dropping my phone. I don't know why people tend to be careless while using cellphones. Maybe it's in the reflex while distracted and the phone drops. Or you're in a middle of a conversation or deep thought and suddenly someone calls you then you drop something. Or maybe just plain irresponsible or just plain careless.
