I like listening to music while reading my favorite book, but I only listen to instrumental music, otherwise it's destructing. I like listening of my favorite music from Kenny G. Do you like listening to music while reading your favorite book? Or do you find it destructing having music around?

Definitely. It has to be an instrumental or a boring piece of music; then I can consider focusing on reading. Otherwise, I end up singing too!

Same here, I can't concentrate reading while listening to music with lyrics.

yes, sometimes. i like instrumental songs, the slow ones if i am reading a book. i don't like to be distracted while reading that is why i choose the songs to be played in the background. but generally, i like a very quiet room to read a book.

Sure it isn't Kevin Sharp? :) And it's distracting, not destructing. Anyway, I can't listen to music while reading, absolutely not, it totally ruins the mood for me and I can't read anymore. I need absolute silence. Thank you.

yeahh when there is some noise around me i like to listen to music while i read. If not, it depends on my mood. If i want to listen to music and read i do it, if not i just dont. Rarely i would be distracted by the music while reading. So my music become something to replace the background noise to a more pleasant noise to me

YES! it is a must that there's music while i'm doing practically everything because i feel more relaxed and it seems to make tasks easier and lighter. i listen to music when i read books because it improves my mood and that's just how it is with me. i also need music when i study and i don't find it distracting at all as long as the songs are mellow and soothing and the volume is regulated. ^^

Yeah, I listen to music. It's relaxing. Sometimes I listen to instrumental music, but soemtimes I listen to music with an actual singer in it.

I usually don't listen to any kind of music when reading because it's very distracting to me. Even instrumental music is distracting. I sometimes forget I'm reading and end up paying more attention to the music.

No no. I don't listen to music while reading. It distracts me. I usually do my thing one at the same time and not simultaneously. Enjoy mylotting. ;)

Sometimes, I will actually listen to music, while I'm reading. It doesn't happen very often, but when I do listen to music and read, it's generally when I'm on public transportation or a public place of some kind or something like that.

Hey careguarden! I can't listen to music of any kind when I'm trying to read! I am one of those people who can't concentrate of two things at once, at least not listen to music when it comes to reading or mylotting! I can only listen to music if I am doing something like cleaning the house or cooking or doing some sort of chore that doesn't require my utmost attention! I am way too easily distracted!

No. When I read, I don't want any distractions. It is very weird to think that if I read novels and fictional books, I don't want music. But if I am studying and reading my academic books, I can still concentrate reading with music.

hello careguarden, answering your questions, it depends. I have a lot of favorit books, and whether I am listening to the music or not, it depends on what type of book i am reading. Like if I was reading a megazine, then I would like to have music on, that would make the whole environment more leisure, and I can read in a more relax situation; when I am read novel, or books related to economic, language, than i don't want to have other sound around me, because I feel tha music would make my reading speed slow down, and I can not focus totally on the book.

yes, I sometimes like to listen to music while i read a book. I don't really know what the type of style it's called, I think new wave. I used to like to listen to this one radio show that played new wave type style music. It would play different styles of music. Music that didn't really have words to it, just real cool rythmic beats, drum beats, chanting, whales, yes!! And folk guitar.

I like to listen to music while I am studying. I can't study in a totally quiet room. It's like I can actually hear myself think. I don't like that. Or sometimes when it is really quiet, I can hear this humming in my ears. That is distracting to me. But when I have on some quiet music, I can concentrate. Usually, I am listening to the lullaby CD that my son listens to when he sleeps. I study when he goes to sleep. I guess it's relaxing for him and me.
