Have you been to Krakow, Poland? Did you enjoy it?

I'm planning to go to Krakow next month with my wife. I've been to Warsaw before but this is my wife's first time to Poland. We've done a little bit of research and we want to go and see Auschwitz and Burkeneau and the Salt Mines and perhaps use the rest of our time to explore Krakow city centre and the Jewish quarter. Have you been to Krakow? Do you have any recommendations or hints or tips for us?

It has been over 10 years since I went to Poland, but I remember really enjoying the salt mines. They have some really amazing sculptures and the whole ballroom is amazing. I also remember enjoying the castle, which I think is called Wawel Castle. Auschwitz is also worth a visit.

Thank you! I forgot about the castle, we'll make sure we go and see that.

I have been to Krakow. I have been to Aushwitz, it was so sad to visit it. It is a good experience but emotional. I really liked being in the Stare Miasto (the central historic district) the main square is so pretty. There were some nice restaraunts and a nice chocolate shop on the square. I would love to go back I went for four days and I don't feel it was enough. Just don't get scammed, I had a lot of people comming up to me trying to sell me knock of perfume and jewellery at silly prices. Have fun.

In 1996 I went to Krakow and I thought that the city was really beautiful. I loved seeing all the historical buildings. I got a map showing a route around the filming sights of Shindlers List. It was interesting to see all of that in the Jewish quarter. I went out to see Auschwitz and Burkeneau and it was really sad to see it and hear the stories. I remember shopping in the market where I got some lovely souvenirs. Before I arrived in Krakow I had been in Zakapain and I had loved walking around there and seeing the stunning looking lakes. I came home liking Poland very much. I hope that you will have a wonderful time in Krakow.
