Pele has the greatest ever ego in Football, there's no doubt about that. I don't rank him as the best ever as he was not even the best in those great Brazil teams. Both Ronaldo's now are better than Pele ever was. Football has moved on.

Wow, I would agree that Pele has the biggest ego in the game. But I'm not sure if Ronaldo is better than him. At least it's very hard to compare, they are from different eras.

Pele never played in Europe. when the top players of his day were making their mark in Europe he did not and stayed in Brazil and played a little in the US. On his game Brazilian Ronaldo is the best I have ever seen.

i have to agree wit the original poster that football has evolved alot...there are many players right now that are much better than what pele ever was...same goes with every sport...just because a player was amazing 20-30 years ago doesn't mean they would be amazing with today's standards and sport quality

in my opinion, may be he was the best. but in his Era.
maradona is the best, in his Era
Ronaldo is the best, in his Era

It's hard for me to say that Pele is the best player of all time as I've never seen the man play. The best player I have ever seen is most definitely Zidane.

Pele without a doubt is one of the greatest players ever but not the Greatest. I regard three other players to be better than him.
Zidane: First and Foremost player, he is Zinedine Zidane probably the best player in the world. He was absolutely fantastic. He is considered one of the greats he had vision, skill, control you name it. If not agreed then I am lead to believe that you are deluded.
Ronaldo (Brazillian): The ideal number 9, the best striker bar none. He holds the record for the most goals scored in the world cup. And with out a shadow of a doubt he is one of the greats. His record speaks for itself.
Maradona: He is the ideal number 10. A mixture of skill and pace, flair also, that goal against England was majical and will always be remembered with his trademark hand of god goal. Better than Pele.
To conclude, I firmly believe that Zidane, Ronaldo and Maradona are all better than Pele. There are of course others that have a worthy mention..
