Memorizing the Bible is a wonderful thing for any Christian to do. Hiding God's Word in your heart is what the Bible calls it. I personally know various passages pretty well, but as for memorizing, I have about 10 chapters completely memorized. So how much of the Bible do you have memorized? Do you have any plans to memorize more?

To be honest, I am I admire you for having a deep passion for holy bible. I am a christiam myself but I do not have a single chapter on the book memorized til todate (I am now 28 years old). Though I have been reading it every now and then especially after praying a rosary. Before I make a goal of reading at least 2 chapters every night or just follow the bible guide for the whole year. But due to busy schedules, I missed reading the bible day after day after day. ADter reading this discussion, I have this urge again to continue what me and my husband started before. Thank you for your admirable attitude towards the holy bible. It serves as my inspiration.

I'm really glad you're inspired to read the Bible! Thank you for your nice comments. In church recently I have been learning that it doesn't matter how much you read in God's Word, it only matters that you do read it. If you have a busy schedule, you could make yourself a small attainable goal for reading the Bible every day. (for example, read the Bible for 10 minutes a day) It's great to read the Bible every day because that is how we learn to hear God's voice! If we listen, He will speak to us. If we pay attention to God, He will pay attention to us! (That's why so many people complain that God doesn't answer their prayers... they pay no attention to Him and expect Him to be right there when they call.) Anyway, I guess I'm long winded! Thanks again for your nice comments! :) I'm so glad you're inspired!

Aw, you really do? I don't think I can ever memorize the bible, not unless, I devoted all my time into studying and learning it, just like what I did in school. The truth is, I was never a bible-reader, I studied Theology and Religion because I went to Catholic schools from secondary level to college but I never did take time to read it through, from cover to cover and all. Shameful as it is, I only started reading the Holy Bible last week, I was/am in my life's lowest in terms of finances and I just couldn't pin point why it was happening to me and my family, don't get me wrong, I don't read the bible and I don't do bible studies and other church services but I do believe in God, I worship, I praise and I have faith, I just don't do it the traditional way. One time, I was praying solemnly and I ask Him for a sign, and a few days later I got my answer, I was crying that time as I finally realized what was asked from me. From then on, after every night prayer with my son, we'll open a random page in the bible and read it, now, I am not doing random reading anymore, I do it page by page consecutively, we're on Matthew at present.

Actually it doesn't take me a long time to memorize, as long as I do a little at a time. That's great that you read the Bible daily. God is always there to answer when we call. Of course, when you spend daily time with God like you are doing, reading the Bible, He answers quicker-- When we pay attention to Him when He calls, He answers us when we call. Also memorizing is helpful so that you can readily remember what God promised so that when you have troubles, you don't have to search to find out if God wants to help you. Thanks for your comment!

I know some verses by heart but I couldn't claim I have memorized the text verbatim. I can also remember the stories, the anecdotes, the parables, but I can't say I have memorized exactly as they were written.

That's great that you memorizing the Word of God. I have memorized psalms of the Bible and certain scriptures in Proverbs. What I do also is get scriptures on particular topic and memorize, such as fear, faith, marriage, words of our mouth, relationships, praise, prayer, love, and so forth. This helps me in such a great way. I do plan on doing more memorizing in the future.

That's a great memorizing idea-- memorizing topically! Whenever you have a problem, you have your answers memorized. For example, if you don't have enough money, you remember that "My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus". It's wonderful that you want to do more memorizing in the future, too! I am working on a memorizing project and posting my progress on my blog. I would love to have you join me if you want to.
