I lost my cellphone to a group of snatchers while inside the bus. The modus operandi was well executed that I didn't have the faintest idea that it was being taken away. I only realized it when I got off the bus. There was a commotion inside the bus and some guys were pretending that they dropped something and ask the passengers to stand up and they acted as if they were looking for something beneath the seats. Unfortunately I had my cellphone on a small belt snap on case and they had no difficulty snatching it. The first impulse was to report the incident to the police but after thinking about it, I asked myself...what for, it will be useless. So I just have to accept my unfortunate fate. LOL I was not able to retrieve all my phonebook entries and I was really sad. any similar experience or perhaps fear?

Yes, true enough, Anything can happen to us anywhere... Just to share this with you guys... A relative of mine was robbed of her handbag few months back. Resulting in a broken car window and her handbag of personal items, not to mention cash. It all happened while waiting for the traffic lights to turn green. Two men on motorbikes stopped beside her on her left and smashed her left passenger window. They grabbed her handbag and tried to escape. Unfortunately the victim's hand was bleeding from cuts of broken glass. All this at a busy road. There were cars in front, behind and by her side who say the whole episode. None of our so called caring society in those cars came to help. All were watching true life drama of the snatchers.

I was riding in a public utility jeepney from my work before when somebody took my earrings. I didn't even noticed that someone took it from my ears until one of the passenger sitting infront of me told me. That was then I realized what happen and when I looked at my back, I saw this guy just walking slowly and smiled at me. The worst is that earring was my uncle's gift from saudi arabia.

you will be shocked to know that some snatchers are just walking away casually especially when the victim is in a bus and helpless.

Hello Manong,Nice discussion! So sorry to hear about that! In fact, I was a victim of snatchers too. It happen 2 years ago. I was having my dinner at a Chinese restaurant where I sat outside the restaurant. My handbag was placed at my lap and I was busy eating. It happened when some one got my handbag from my back and I don't realized it until I felt something is moving out from my lap. But it was too late, he ran to his friend waiting in the motorcycle. My hub try to chase the snatchers but fail. My hub even hurt himself while chasing for that motorcycle. I was kinda sad of this incident. I lost my new bought cell phones, some cash, wallet with all the important documents. Now I don't go to the restaurant to eat again. Once I pass by there I get to remember this bad day again.

hi vingyan! I think losing a handbag is even worse because you lose more than just the cellphone but everything inside. That's a terrible experience, you had. At least the snatchers didn't hurt you or your husband. I have heard that many of them are armed and are willing to hurt people when noticed. I must admit, it takes a while before we can really recover from the shock. have fun.

Hi again, Yeah, what I get lost not only my cell phone but my personal things like identity card, ATM cards, credit cards and some member ship cards. The very next day I have to replace all my cards . I got the first thing to do at the moment was to call all the banks hotlines to cancel all my cards. But I consider lucky as I am not in hurt at all, and my hub just fall down and get very minor injury after chasing the snatchers. But I did witness one snatchers happen in front of my real eyes. I saw a motorcycle snatching a lady's handbag while she cross the road. The lady was fallen down after being pulling off her handbag. SO sad and shock to see this happen. Just this is what happen quite serious in my country here and lady have to be careful with carrying their handbags.

I lost my cellphone more than 10 years ago and it was my most valuable possession inside my bag, lol. Yes, only a few had cellphones at that time and that made me think I was someone special, hahaha. What made it more special was that it was the only new model out in the market at that time, yes it was the nokia 5110. I am now smiling in retrospect ... that model is now put into the shelves of history, hahaha. Well, I was in Manila at that time for a two-week training. We made our way to Divisoria to get a good bargain of dusters, shirts, blouses, bags, etc. When I reached the place where we stayed, I noticed that the "precious" nokia 5110 left without bidding goodbye to its owner, hahaha. We just had to LOL as we computed how much bargain we made and deducting the cost of the cellphone that was lost. We ended up having a big deficit. That one incident taught me to be smart ... I never bought nokia 5110 again, hahahaha, no, I bought another phone which I really kept safely in the bottommost part of my bag and put it on silent mode as I ride in jeepneys.

My second phone was 5110 too but I didn't realize that that was 10 yrs. ago. My gosh, was that really that long time ago. We were a lot younger then. Anyway, you are right, that was a hit then but after 10 years, snatchers will probably stab you once you carry that model today. Hahahaha. I think I've given my unit to someone, I can't even recall who that was. Very durable unit though.

Not yet. But, I cannot be fortunate all the time. If it happens like that, I could well be kidnapped (who would want to kidnap me??) before I realized what has happened. At any rate, I don't take the bus, hardly drive after dark and don't talk walks in dark alleys or crowded places. My chances of being a victim of snatching are quite low. But, who knows? If anything can happen, it will happen.

Something like that. I remember when I was still living in MMla, I would hardly wear any jewelry, carried my bag like I was hanging on to it for dear life. I did not even take buses just jeepneys. And, even if I had not much money anymore, I would take a taxi because I felt safer. That was no life for me, in constant fear of being robbed.

My phone was snatched too, just today while was walking home from school. Just like you, I was clueless that two men were stealing my phone. They were pretending to be fighting and running, and i did not realize it till i saw the zipper of my bag open. But it was too late because they have gone far already. The scenario was very fast that I was not able to see their faces. I did not know what to do. so I seek help to the barangay captain. I felt really stupid that time. I was crying and crying and I tried to explain to them what really happened. Later on, i decided to just go home because i know i will never retrieve my phone again. besides i dont have much evidence to say to the police. Right now im really frustrated. not because i just lost my brand new phone, but because i still dont know what to tell my parents about it. P.S. im not a native english speaker...sorry for the incorrect grammar...

hi namong, I have been robbed more times than i can count lol. let me just say that i was never robbed when my head was on straight and things were good in my life. I was 30 before i ever got robbed the first time after that well it happened again and again. It hasnt happened lately as I have become more my old self again not drinking and such. But i ll give a few incidents just for a laugh cuz to me now it is a laugh. Once i was in new york visiting (i call this the giveaway) I bought my son several clothing items from macy about $200 worth. Walking home i was stopped by a street vendor selling gloves for one dollar. They were so cute i had to have a pair. So lil ol sweet southern me sits my bag to the side to get out one dollar to pay for the gloves. And of coure when i turned to pick up my bag it was not there lol. Just thankful my son was still there phew. Second incident i brought someone home with me from a bar we had a little hanky panky. I fell asleep on his chest. Next morning i woke up had been robbed of all electronics all my sons video games tvs phones and my car. Talk about gut wrenching. Thank God my son was away for the weekend. Please no preachin very bad judgment on my part i know. Believe it or not i did it again brought another man home with me this one only stole my wallet with about $30 in it. Third incident not so bad took my son to dave and busters for a lil game time sat my wallet down to tie my sons shoe and of course there went my LV wallet with my cash and cards. ON vacation my son left the hotel door opened and someone snatched my computer. The last story is my bravery act i was tired of being robbed. lol I was in a bar yet again. more alert this time though or so i thought. someone asked to use my cell phone. I said well stand right beside me and i will let you. he used it gave it back and went away. Later in the night he asked to use it again. well he already used it once and gave it back so y not??? well here is y cuz he knew i trusted him now and he ran out the door with my phone. I didnt notice at first. Then i looked down the street swa him walking. i was on the bar patio. I was like there goes the man with my phone. TRied to get the guy i was with to go get it he wouldnt. So i ran outta the ar to my car jumbed in and drove ontop of the sidewalk and jumped this man fr my phone. probably stupid too but i got my phone back without much of a fight. I have to say that all this happened for a reason and it was all at a time in my life when i was lost and running from My Lord Jesus. I have since forgotten it all reallt till i saw this post even forgiven it all and I am thankful for it all because these incidencse helped to change the way my life was headed. I kknow you situation is not like mine but thought i would share anyway.

just like you i didn't report to the police cause i think that there is nothing that they can do about it. my reaction was i just didn't do any thing, i didn't try to run after the snatcher as my belief that i can still earn money to buy what i lost.

hello manong05, Well, thank God nothing Bad happened to you, it would have been worse if they even threatened you. well, not my experienced but it was my moms. it was like eleve in the evening and then my mom was on a jeep. a guy pretending that something fell from the floor but my moms eyes where sharp and pointed fingers. instead being happy they were frustrated and left. it was at that time my mom realized those people where snatchers. i don't know if they talked about it but it was scary for her.

hello! unfortunately, i'd experienced what you had experienced too. my necklace was snatched last month while i was along the highway. it was a busy day where too many people in the place. i was in shock and can't shout in a second when a stranger snatched my necklace. i was just starring at him while he was trying to run in the midde of the crowd. i don't know what to do at that time. and then somebody shouted for me to blocked and resist the snatcher but his too fast. sadly, he scaped. that was my first time to experience a situition like that.

Yes, my Nokia 5110 was snatched during my college days at Marawi City. I was desperate to find it because I heard that law enforcers are not responding to this incident.
