I believe every major religion has many good things to say about how we as humans should be stewards & custodians to care for, protect & help our animal friends & companions. They were never ever intended for us to kill. We have no right to do this at all! Instead, the holy scriptures - or most of them - have been tampered with & misinterpreted over a long period of time to try to justify all the senseless slaughter of wonderful, beautiful, intelligent & useful creatures that have been entrusted into our benevolent care. In addition, the Christian Church believes that animals have no souls! I guess they are progressing very, very slowly, as it was only about a few hundred years ago that they admitted finally that women do indeed have souls! I am not sure whether animals believe in any religion as we know it, but they can be justifiably forgiven if they do not believe in any of ours!!!
