Why do we always want what we cant have?bec. as humans we are hard to satisfy?

This is the human nature, to want what is impossible to have?
This keep us alive, make us to fight for what we want, and if we want badly something..the irony of life; if you want something badly, seems that is almost impossible to have.
Of course that sometimes wishes come true, but is so rarely, usual, people want what they can t have...and when they have don t know to apreciate what they have;
Is just a biological joke?

I have a few relatives who are always striving for more, bigger, better, greater, who seem never satisfied, but rationalize this mindset as "self improvement." For me self improvement is education, and measured in what I learn every day. If my goal is monitary, it's only to save for something I may want in the future, and maintain the standard of living I have right now. I will work for what i want, but only for that, and not for the sake of coompeting with others, and keeping up with trends.
