If you question something do you check into it or just let it go?

I just read a topic regarding questionable ingredients in bathroom toiletry products. If the first few ingredients (usually the base of the given product) of a given product are a mile long, hardly pronounceable, and scarey sounding do you research it or just buy it and not worry about it? What are your views on this? Do you think you should? Do you think it silly to worry what these companies might be putting in products? Is there a reason to worry?
