It was one of those calls..

I got one of those telemarketer type calls this morning. Normally I'd just hang up on them or set the phone down and let them chatter at the silence. But I was a bit more complacent this morning, apparently, and when asked if I (by name) was home I took the dive and said 'ya got him'. As it happened they were selling car insurance and I asked the salesperson why they wanted to talk to me. As salespeople do she assured me that I was indeed the person they needed to talk to and proceeded into a rather lengthy spiel..another thing salespeople do..And when she finally came up for air I again asked if she was sure she needed speak to me. In answer she asked if I was confident with my car insurance coverage..In answer I said, 'Darlin', I don't drive..haven't had a license since the early 70's..' She finally got the point..no sale/no way! Have you ever had similar 'encounters'?

The best one I ever heard was a sales call made to a friend of mine. The sales person was selling stairlifts, and she said they could guarantee they could fit a stairlift into any property. She asked my friend if he was over 60, he said yes. She asked if he had mobility problems, he said yes. She then said he would benefit from a stairlift, and they could fit one to his property. If he wasn't happy with it, he could take advantage of the money back guarantee. He said there was no way they could fit a stairlift in his home. She said they could fit one in any home, guaranteed. He insisted they couldn't fit one to his place. She asked why he was so sure, and he answered, 'We live in a bungalow, we have no stairs, and there's no way you can fit a stairlift.' She hung up.

I had one I'll never forget. She was young. She was selling a CD with a variety of songs. I told her I didn't like today's music. She said she has other typed of music like the 70s. What is your favorite? I said Emerson, lake & Palmer. She paused then said Excuse me? I said Emerson, Lake & Palmer. She paused then said "Ok sir ou have a nice day" and hung up. ELP is my fqvorite group. I laughed. It was the first time I had a telemarketer hang up on me!

HAHA! I bet she was totally bummed that she wasted her time! I hate when telemarketers call. Luckily right now I only have a cell phone, no land line. I very rarely get calls like that. And if a call comes in and I don't recognize the number, I just don't answer!

Ha Ha I had a telemarketer contact me about getting those cool windows installed. I didn't even own my own house, was just renting. I set the phone down, and let her waste her time, since she wouldn't let me get a word in edge wise. When she was done I informed her had she listened to me she wouldn't have wasted 15 min trying to sell windows to a non home owner.
