I am a student of Materials Engineering and sometimes I ask myself "why don't I try to become a scientist and not an engineer?". I really don't know what is better, engineering of science, but I think that a scientist don't works so much with other people, thing that an engineer do so much. And Engineering involves multiple areas and science is more focused. What do you think about it?

I always thought engineering was one of the best courses because my dad is an electrical engineer. Outside United States he had job and he was making a lot. But here in USA things are different. Thanks to my dad's great experiences and networking, he never has to struggle in getting jobs, but others who studied here don't have the same benefits. I mean I see that in engineering there is a lot you have to study. There are many difficult courses you have to take, but after gradutation landing onto a job that pays well becomes hard. Average salary of an engineer here is $50,000. I feel it is really less. A person with a business degree which is much easier to get makes more money than that.

Just think about this, are you studying because you wanted to have a better job in the future? or want to help humankind in general? If the answer is the first one, then go for Engineering. If you prefer for the second one, then go to become a scientist. You can become an Engineer and at the same time can be a scientist if you chooses the first one too.
