Open source good or bad?

this is something which i haven't heard of yet. i wonder as to how did you manage to get some knowledge about this thing. actually, i have read your discussion at one time, then came across it again and again. i have been wondering as to how it must be working and as to how to get into it. too bad though that it seems, there is no one around here that has sufficient knowledge about this thing. can you give me some enlightenment on this one? i am sorry for being quite a bother to you.
