What Energy Booster Food Works For You?

I remember a friend of mine back in school days telling me that she had no energy that she just wanted to stay in bed the whole day. I told her to have a cup of coffee to boost her energy. She said that coffee has no effect on her. She can drink several cups of coffee and still fall asleep. Some friends I know love munching chocolates to keep them energized. That is understandable though as chocolates contain sugar which is an energy giving food. Based on your personal experience, what are the foods that really give you a boost of energy? Are there any food which is not known as energy booster but has really good effect in giving you your needed energy everyday?

First coffee jump starts my day, then in the afternoon I like to have a glass of milk with 2 tablespoons of Molasses in it, as this does give me a pick me up.

I don't think you can call coffee as a food as I'd put it in the beverage sections. I don't recall of too many energy booster food but mostly they are for the drinks as they contain caffeine and can boost a bit of your energy but with a cost which I'm sure everyone is aware of.
