Can I cancel my landline, and keep my DSL service?

Here is my question, if anyone here can help me. Because my landline home phone service is the same company as my DSL internet service. If I want to cancel my landline service, can I still keep my DSL internet service? Some people said I can't, while others said it is possible. What is your opinion?

I don't know if that is the truth. But I will try to call the local phone service provider, to ask more about this matter. Hopefully, it won't affect my DSL service though.

It depend on your Internet Service Provider and the Plan you have opted. In most of the countries, all of the service providers are giving their Internet service with the land line phone and without the land line phone. You need to have the line for the internet connectivity. Using the phone is away form the internet usage, You can just choose the plan in which the land line phone rental is less or nill. Or if the rental is there, then avoid using the land line phone. The plans will be available with your service provider and it is better to consult them in this regard.

over here you can have them separated. so if you have them in one number, just ask to separate them into 2 different numbers. they will charge more monthly but if you can get cheaper phone then it will make up for it. I have it separated and I like it so far.

Hi clorissa, I think its a no, but it can be yes with a few ISP. It all depends on the Internet Service Provider you are using. Contact your ISP support and find a answer to that...generally many ISPs don't allow this. you need a landline cable to send and receive information on net.

Technically is is possible to just get dsl service. This is called dry service. It is usually only available for what is called 'business class' service. It costs more for this then the phone/dsl consumer bundle also, as it usually has faster uplink speeds, dedicated ip addresses and better uptime guarantees. So in theory you can do this, but in practice most phone companies will not allow it for consumer grade service. Only way to know for sure is to ask your service provider.

It just depend on your service provider and your area maybe, just like in our country, It's impossible, because dsl connection requires a landline connection, syou will only be given a dsl connection only if you subscribed for a phone lihne, not unless you want a wireless one or that one that uses an antenna instead of a cable.
