Filipino myLotters - Christmas traditions

hi fellow Filipino myLotters. i was just wondering if any of you still observe Filipino Christmas traditions. i now live in the US and this will be my first baby's first Christmas and i want it to be very special. and i want her to grow up knowing pinoy traditions. please reply to this discussion with suggestions of how i can teach my daughter about Filipino Christmas.

yes, we do. we wait till 12 midnight. we go to simbang gabi, we go caroling, eat puto bumbong and bibingka. nagmamano to our elders, ask for aginaldo.

Wow. That's great. I mean, I really like that even though you migrated out of the country you still value our culture and traditions. Because some Filipinos, when they migrate, they forget that they are Filipinos and adopt the foreign culture in the country that they are in. Hmmm, I think you can celebrate noche buena and stuff and gift giving. That would be really special :)

thank you, mareca11. i know, some filipinos really do forget their roots when they go out of the country. some are even ashamed of where they're from. i hate those kind of people. there are good and bad things about the philippines, and there are good and bad things about the US. it's just up to us which ones we adopt and which ones we avoid. i want my daughter to grow up knowing and accepting and valuing her filipino roots. also, i love being filipino when it comes to celebrating christmas. christmas here is shorter. anyway, thanks for the suggestions. i'll try to do those.
