Life begins at 40? No, sorry, but No. I heard this for years. When I turned 40 I had only a few months previously given birth to my fifth son, so I was probably too busy - and too happy - to notice any real change. As 50 approached, the idea of being half a century was a bit scary, but the young people in my study group gave me a surprise "golden" birthday party. It was wonderful and I certainly didn't feel half a century old. As 60 approached, I realised I was getting OLD! Ouch! I hadn't realised it! How could I possibly be that age??!! I thoroughly enjoyed being 60, 61, 62, . . . . As 70 approached, I decided that 70 was absolutely ancient! I'd better start looking at nursing homes! Maybe I should buy a walking stick? WOW! 70? 70 is great! I'm having the time of my life. I am much busier than I've ever been. I'm enjoying every bit of my life! Now, as I think of the next decade coming in 7 years, I have concluded that I am NOT having ANY more birthdays! I am staying at this wonderful, happy age of 73 and I refuse to grow older. Really and truly Fulltank, EVERY age is the beginning. Every day is a new day, with all its challenges, blessings, enjoyments and disappointments. Life is wonderful! Age is nothing but a number.

Very nice and beautiful words for a person who's been there. Happy as a bee that you never had the time to look for the age and still having a time of your life. Hope to have a life as you did. Long live.

I'm only eighteen, and know not of what gifts being middle-aged brings.. However, I am a firm believer in the fact that life begins every morning when I wake. I try always to be grateful.

Nice response from an 18 year old. Actually its better to say that "life begins when we are born." Thanks for your response. Keep it coming and enjoy your youth.

that is what they thought. why? because at 40, you're suppose to be stable, with good job and at least have achieve something, thus you start to enjoy life. But if you are still struggling financially at 40, i don't know if life will begin at 40, maybe 50? hahahahaha

Those that are not financially, emotionally and physically prepared for this age, they would surely have the other reaction to this discussion. Me, I'm still preparing for it and hopefully I'll be prepared for that day.

hi friend, i do not believe in this phrase. life begins at when you were born. why some people said this, beacause when they are at their 40, that would be the richest time for them and they can enjoy much things and they are energetic at that time. in my opinion, when your mom gave your life, your life is begining. everyday is important no matter the age.

From where I stand, the belief that life begins at 40 is really a fact. "Life Begins at Forty" is a very popular proverb in my country, China. It means that people have nothing to worry about when they are 40 year old. Of course, for some people, it’s important that young people realise that they can still enjoy life as they get older. As long as they make an effort to look after themselves, there’s no reason why they shouldn’t look forward to a happy and fulfilled old age. Have a nice day.

If you haven't emotionally prepared (the monetary one follows), life at 40's would be devastating I think.

its a fact, for me you need to live your live carefully when you are forty. you have to face it with a matured thinking. you should be more aware now what your body needs and what is your health conditions or else you might die early. thats how i see that. when you step forty you have to live wisely and need to have your health check regularly. thats the age where signs of sickness checks in.
