I just got done baking apple pie, and I guess when I was crimping my crust I didn't get a good seal on it. So, of course when I removed the aluminum foil from the edges so they could brown, filling oozed out everywhere. Now my kitchen is all smoky and smells like burning sugar. Does anybody have any ideas on how I can get it off of the bottom of my oven though? I would appreciate any and all ideas. Thanks: )

I hate it when that happens. All u can do is spray your oven with cleaner & scrub it out. That calls for some work.

Darn! I was hoping for an almost magical solution that would be a whole lot easier than stinky oven cleaner and scrubbing. Thanks for the response.

Thanks for the best response. Hope u got that oven all cleaned up. Newxt time pot a cookie sheet under your pie then u can just scrub it instead of the oven. Have a good one.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Crust: 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 tsp salt 3/4 shortening (I actually used butter, just make sure it's really cold if you do) 1 Cup Ice water (For this I used my food processor) Put flour and salt in, then add the butter, about 12 pulses until butter is pea size. Add water until it comes together. Try not to overmix. Let rest in refrigerator for an hour, separate into 2, roll out 1 for the bottom of your pie pan and then one for the top. It does a 9-10 inch pie Filling: 1/2 to 1 cup flour 6 to 7 Cups apples peeled, cored, and cut into thin slices 1 cup regular white sugar 1 cup brown sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon 2 Tablespoons butter Put apples and both sugars into a bowl and combine. Add the flour , and cinnamon, mixing until they are well coated. Put the pie filling into pastry lined pie pan. Cut the butter into small pieces and put on top of filling. Then put your top pastry crust on. Trim top crust about an inch bigger than pie pan. Then crimp the edges. Cut slits in top to let steam escape. Sprinkle a little sugar and cinnamon over the pie. Cover the edges with foil to prevent them from burning. Bake for 25 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for another 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. It's fairly easy, just time consuming. (Of course you can just buy the crust if you wanted, since peeling and cutting the apples will take awhile) Thank you for the response. I hope the recipe helps you: )

Next time you bake a pie, just cover a cookie sheet with foil and place the pie on it. It will cook the same as directly on the rack but to clean up the mess is soooo easy, just throw away the foil. I have put salt on anyoverflow in the oven while baking and it helps cut the smoking and sometimes makes the clean up easier. Not always but sometimes.
