Who are the real terrorists ?

I started a discussion somewhat related to this yesterday. I have also faced similar posts from other members. Any person can put their views in here. But that does not mean that you have be rude with them. The member who posted this discussion is from Pakistan and has not read Americas history. I also do not know much about Americas History. You cited two examples which are 60 years apart. Let me give you an example from my own motherland. The British captured our land for nearly 200 years. According to the books and references in India, they killed us brutally and took away almost all our natural resources. They were terrorists for us. Now, if you take a look at the British journals and books at the time, you will find out that they have labeled our fight for freedom as terrorism activity. Why did I say so much? Just wanted you to take a look at the other person's history before attacking him with yours. Most countries in Central and Eastern Asia was hard done at some point of time by Europeans and Americans because they were all powerful. I do not have any grudge against any country. Pakistan attacked us so many times but still I am supporting them. British took advantage of us. But I do not have any problem with them. Infact I have a few British friends who also do not have any hatred for my countrymen. I believe everything happens because there is a reason. Do not get so involved with yourself. Look around, there are billions of people in this world with a story and reason of their own. You are not the only one.

What this poster of this discussion fails to realize is the difference between people dying in self defence through wars started by megalomaniacs like Hitler, Hussein, and/or religious fanatics like Islamic extremists and people dying because some idiot has a hatred for an entire country it knows nothing about. Most of the stats here are untrue and give a very lopsided picture of the reality of the numbers quoted in any case. Wars engaged in to establish peace, to free the oppressed and to safeguard the rights of human beings such as the Americans have indulged in over the years, are NOT the same as wars fought by people on their home ground against their own people for stupid fundamentalists ideals that go against the rights of human beings as a whole. Discussions like this make me angry and downright ill in their ignorance and lack of honest facts.

I agree with you guys- coolcoder and sparksofinsanity... I am extremely sorry for posting a reply on such an old discussion, I became a member here just before a few weeks... The author of this post, it seems to me, has some wrong ideas about 'who are terrorists?', 'What kind of people are labelled as terrorists?' and why the war on terrorism is so necessary. I am from India and I know what it is to feel terrorized after a bomb blast or something. Also, the author should remember that no one has lablelled a particular religion as 'terrorists'. There was Prabhakaran in Sri Lanka (thankfully, he was killed before a few months), who wasn't muslim and yet more than 50 countries in the world had labelled him as 'a dangerous terrorist'. Actually, a terrorist has no religion. They are only fantatics with stupid and foolish ideas about God and Heaven. If the terrorism isn't wiped out of the face of the earth, then we are going to have a lot of problems in 2-3 decades, where the existence of sane and peaceful people and countries will be under threat. The progress of human life will stop, first of all... Hence, a decesive action must be taken asap by all the countries who have been suffering... Thank you!
