According to the Old Testament, the Sabbath was recognized as Saturday and was a day of rest, reflection over the events of the past week, and preparation for the coming week. It was honored as a very special day, and still is observed today in Judaism. However, for Christians, we observe Sunday as a sort of Sabbath, although it is not mentioned explicitly in the Bible. The reason for this is because the Bible records the resurrection of Jesus as occurring on the first day of the week (Sunday). Therefore, through traditions of the Christian Church, it has been custom to observe the Christian Sabbath on Sunday in recognition of the resurrection of Christ.
