Why do my in-laws always want to stay with us when they are in town???

I understand that we have children and they enjoy being entertained by the kids but they could spend the day with us and then sleep at another family member's house that has more room, bathrooms and everything else... Do they not understand how taxing it is to have to keep the kids in check because they like to try to stretch the rules when company is over; to make huge meals that will feed everyone and allow for seconds if requested; and to have to wait for someone to get their slow-moving butt out of your bathroom, especially when you have been waiting to get in the bathroom for a while... I love my in-laws... I just sometimes wish they didn't want to be so close when they are in town... Am I the only person who feels this way??

No, you are not. I sincerely believe that one day is quite enough to spend with in-laws. You could love them all the more if they spend less time with you. Of course the children need to bond with them but how much bonding could be done if they see you stressed out? If you could afford it maybe you should put in an apartment (self contained room) specially for them or suggest an affordable hotel/motel not far away where you and the kids could visit them instead of them visiting you.
