most people who tend to be shy are those who have had bad experiences or lack self esteem. this can be due from being talked down to , a bad experience with a stranger, etc. being shy can be cute for a child , but as you grow up it will inhibit what you are willing to do as an adult and even go as far as inhibiting what you will be able to accomplish, especially to express love. so how you all overcome shyness? no work no result have a nice day~~

I remember being shy when I was younger too and like you said, it carried on for quite a bit and it is still continuing right now. However, I am learning to combat it by trying to be more of an extrovert and kind of making myself talk to new people. I've been doing this for a while now and I found that I'm overall becoming less shy than I use to. I believe that if you continue to push yourself to becoming more open and more outgoing, you'll get so use to it that you won't be as shy anymore.
