Catholics follow the Catechism while Mormons follow the Book of Mormons. Catholics have the Pope while Mormons have Joseph Smith. Catholics have their central office called the Holy See in Vatican City in Rome while the center of the Mormons is in the United States.

The leader of the Mormons is Joseph Smith and he wrote the Book of Mormons being followed by the Mormons. The Catholics follow the Catechism laid down by the Roman Catholic Church heirarchy to be followed by it members the Catholics. The main office of the Roman Catholic Church is in the Holy See in Vatican City, Rome, while the Mormons have their central office in the United States. There are so many differences because they follow their own books laying out their doctrines - to each his own.
