For those who have read both Gone With the Wind sequels, which do you like better? Scarlett is definitely by favorite GWTW character, but I think I liked the book Rhett Butler's People than I did Scarlett. I think the Rhett Butler book shed a new light on Rhett that was not exposed in the original Gone With the Wind book.

hi kristeen5! i have not read rhett butler's people, who is the author? i really like rhett as a character because he is maligned by all the townspeople and disrespected by scarlett, but he underneath his bad repuatation he (other than melanie) is the kindest person in the story, and definitely the smartest person! i have been to charleston, south carolina several times, rhett's home town, and have been gratified to see stores and restaurants named after him! when i was a young girl/woman rhett was my romantic hero and i am happy to say that i married a man who is just as handsome, smart, witty, strong, sexy, and kind as rhett butler...my dream has come true!

I have copies of both Scarlett and Rhett Butler's People. I have read Scarlett but not the whole book thought. I think I have gotten bored with where the story was going. It kind of went into circles. Perhaps Alexandria Riply was trying to make it into another epic story. As for Rhett Butler's People, I only have scanned it until now. But I think it could turn out to be better than Scarlett. I hope it will. I always loved Rhett's character, and reading the story from his perspective sounds really well.

Scarlett - This is the book Scarlett, a sequel of Gone With The Wind
Hi Kristeen5. I am an avid fan of the Gone with the Wind and I bought both books, which are said to be sequels. I like the Rhett Butler's people because it shed light on many questions about who was Rhett, how he got those opinions about the war and why was he against the war and who was Belle Watling in his life. The Rhett Butler's people explained how Belle became so involved in Rhett's life and how he found some solace when Scarlett denied him her marital responsibility which were described in both the movie and the GWTW book. I just hope that the Rhett Butler's people will become a movie. The Scarlett book became a mini series and I have watched it over and over. I never cease to love Rhett and Scarlett.
