What is the cookies?

broadly speaking its something that signs you into gmail even when you have not entered the log in user name or password. Its anything that a site stores in your computer to for its on use

Are you for real? A cookie is like a notepad from your computer, usually from a browser to store your activity while you were online. Take Firefox for instance; if you save your username and password, and you want to automatically sign in to your email next time, a cookie will store that username and password for you. So, when the next time you login to your email again, you don't have to type in yourself, firefox will automatically retrieve the username and password from the desgignated cookie.
