i'm putting this discussion here to get the ideas and suggestions of my fellow movie buffs. i'm finally able to clear space and get an entertainment room set up. nothing too fancy... lcd screen, blu ray player, surround system, video consoles, plus my dvd and video game collection. i'm planning to spice up the room with theater posters and i figure i can put in at least 10 or 12 posters (mounted and framed in glass) around the room. i already have the following posters as these are some of my favorite movies: the godfather taxi driver platoon gladiator pulp fiction star wars great expectations almost famous there's something about mary ten things i hate about you now my question is, if you were to have a choice of five movie posters to have in your possession as displays in your room, what would these be? discuss. cheers!!!

hi msfrancisco! it hardly a luxury. the room is not that big and the video-audio set up is peanuts compared to the real highrollers here in mylot. lol! but it does serve its purpose which is to give me my place of zen when watching my favorite movies. that's a nice collection there. pretty woman and nothing hill are my favorites. looking at what you want to have for your collection, i can say that you're a julia roberts and a big love story/romantic comedy fan. cheers!!!

yeah, it does entail some cost settign up an entertainment room but if you and your family are movie buffs, it will be a good investment. also, watching movies together with your family is good bonding time provided you watch movies suitable for your children. also adding, in the long run, having an entertainment room and watching movies there will save you a couple of bucks than having to go malling on weekends or holidays. i've ordered the posters from the states and have these delivered to my friend who's based there. she'll be bringing the posters here when she gets home by december. i'll have the posters framed here in manila. if you want, i can send you the link and you can order the posters online. locally, i think a number of record bars sell movie posters not so sure though about the selection and variety that these record bars have. you can also get movie posters from the local distributors that release these movies (talking about foreign movies) for a small sum. hope this helps. cheers!!!

hi ckyera. the entertainment room sounds great here but really its just a vacnat room in my place that i decided to convert into one because i'm a big movie buff and it's way cheaper to watch movies at home than at overly-priced theater houses. lol!!! yeah, the matrix posters would be a great addition although i'm tryign to veer away from sequels as it will take too much space as i only have limited space. i'm sticking with godfather although there were parts 2 and 3 of this movie but i'm a big fan and godfather can stand on its own. there were no parts 2 and 3 in the book version and i can't imagine the matrix without matrix reloaded and matrix revolution, it just wouldn't be the same. cheers!!!

hello allen! well at least, its still an entertainment room! when you're done with it, maybe you can share it to us...hehe well, well, whatever poster you want to put there will be good as long as its something that you like...or maybe if you have lots of movie posters, you can also change it once in a while...hehe

hi ckyera! my thoughts exactly. so far i have twelve posters, i've recently ordered a 'kill bill' poster. i'll probably put ten posters up and then change some as the next year rolls by. looking at a couple more posters to get but still thinking things over. cheers!!!

Ah...this reminds me of the entertainment room my little brother and I used to have. It was more of a game room but we spent a lot of time watching movies in there too. There was his pc and my laptop in one corner, a TV with various game consoles attached (we had a PS, PS2, Dreamcast, Nintendo Gamecube, and XBox to alternate between). Then there was another TV in another corner. We even brought in a couch and a plush rug so that people can sprawl on it in front of the TV. There were posters and wallscrolls on the walls and shelves of DVDs and games lining the walls. We'd spend hours there just hanging out and having fun. Those were the good old days. But back to the question, if I were to just choose five posters to display on my walls they would probably be: -The Shawshank Redemption --I love the colors on the poster, Tim Robbins standing out in the pouring rain with his arms outstretched staring at the heavens is a really powerful statement. Plus, I like the movie, seen it a few times. -any Indiana Jones movie poster --I love those films, only exception might be that last one which was a bit too out there for me. -Princess Mononoke --This is a must. One of my favorite Miyazaki films and the one that got me into anime. -any Lord of the Ring poster --Awesome trilogy. And they look cool. -Seven Samurai --This movie is a classic.

hi saizo6! yeah, i had a similar room when i was younger which i shared with an older uncle. it was set up to what you had before. we had two tv sets, one for videos (we had a vhs player and a vcd player, no dvd players at that time yet) and the other for games (we had the older consoles from nintendo and sega. lol! shows how old i am.'sigh'). thinking back, i guess having that room before is a big inspiration and motivation to have a similar room for me this time. lol! i can definitely share this with my uncle but moreso with my daughter. the room may have my favorite movie posters and collections but make no mistake about it, my daughter will be watching her 'dora', 'barney', disney, and pixar collections in this room. lol! back to the discussion, those are great poster ideas. i love lord of the rings and seven samurai. i think though that gettign a lotr poster is easier than getting a seven samurai one. lol! anyway, i'm adding 'the last samurai' poster to the mix. already placed an order and waiting for it to be shipped to my friend's place in the state. that is another great movie that i like. cheers!!!

I think my ultimate choices would be: Lady Hawke, Somewhere in Time, Harvey, Terminator, and Blade. These are afew of my top favorites that I think would also make cool posters. Romantic extravaganza of clothes and scenery of the Grand Hotel in Somewhere to the bizarre change taking place in Lady Hawke. I can only imagine the lovely posters that could be produced.

Oh no!I don't want to decorate(in other words, spoil) my room walls.I like them remain clean and neat so that it may give peace to me there. If it is a must to have some posters,I will hang some of my favorite deities on the wall. They will soothe my mind.Cheers!

Boy that is a lot of posters to put on the wall. When I had posters on the wall it was only about 4 of them. My favorite movies would be Indiana Jones, National Treasure, Charlie Angels, Dirty Dancing and Indpendence Day. Good luck in deciding which ones you are going to put on your walls.

hi happy6162!!! those are great movie posters as well. yeah, indiana jones is a good add as well as national treasure. right now, i'm sticking to wha ti have plus like what i mentioned in my earlier post, 'the last samurai'. not sure how many i will put up, a dozen is based on my calculations but i might just stick to ten posters as i don't want to have a cluttered entertainment room and keep the extra two posters that i can just put up in a whim. nice to have an option when i got tired of what i have. cheers!!!
