at least any reader who has read both the hobbit and all three LOTR books. the base question is which did you like best the one that started it all or the trilogy? i think i like the hobbit best because though it is shorter it is more fun and innocent though still a very good read. i love the way it sets up for the others and i guess i'm just a sucker for stories that tie into others. though i will put props on lotr because it is well written but there are some bits that i struggle to get through because the descriptions of things are so long and detailed i go into overload trying to picture all the detail at once :) so which do you like better and why?

I suppose, if I have to pick one, I'd go for 'The Two Towers'. It is the least boring of the three. I say three, because no-one in recorded history has ever made it through the final book of LotR: everyone skips large sections, falls asleep, or just doesn't bother. So it doesn't actually count as a book that can be measured as 'good', 'bad' or 'indifferent'. The Hobbit is all right... In my opinion, there are much better books out there!
