Spoken word poetry is new form of performance poetry which began in New York in the beginning of 1990’s. At the beginning The word “spoken word “ started as sign word In record stores. People who were really dissatisfied with the world had begun to become great fan of it’s beats. Today the word” Spoken word Poetry” has evolved into a very general category poetry meant to be both performed and make a strong statement/view. From a world of rotting world the beat poets became more interested in voicing problems and offering hope. The spoken poetry lays importance on elements 1.rhytm- Even though spoken word is written in free verse, It definitely has a rhythm. The rhythm is chosen in a way to keep the poem moving 2.repetition-Spoken word return to same phrase time and over to stress on certain lines which best describe the message that has to be delivered to people. 3.Rhyme- The rhyme acts like a catalyst for maintaining/ attracting people to the main them of the poem. There is no specific rhyme that is followed. All spoken poetry is meant to be read aloud but not all poetry read aloud are spoken word poems.
