Should marketing of small automotives be encouraged?

In the last year or so a large no. of companies have either launched or planned to launch low budget cars. Though this economic boost in the depression hit market has its pros but it's a no brainer that soon there will be a lot more cars on the road causing greater traffic and pollution worry. So this the best way in the long run, what do you think guys?
