My monitor is flickering!!! Why do they do this? I have one monitor that just totally won´t work. And this current one I found in a skip (works ok but the colours are very dark on it). If a screen flickers does that mean it´s about to give up altogether??!

Try the Degauss button. Check out the Refresh Rate.

Whats the refresh rate of monitor set to. Keep it on lowest possible value and see if this happens. Try the deguassing option if available and as somebody already suggested try pluggin in and out the main wire.

I don't know much about computers. I hade this problem with mine. I unpluged the cable from the screen for a few minutes and put it back. I found that it had a slight short. I hope you get it stopped.

Check whether powersupply in your area is erratic and requires stabilizers for electronic goods. If everything is ok, get the monitor checked for defects.

It may be dying. Is it a CRT? How old is it?
