Flickering Screen

My monitor is flickering!!! Why do they do this? I have one monitor that just totally won´t work. And this current one I found in a skip (works ok but the colours are very dark on it). If a screen flickers does that mean it´s about to give up altogether??!

Try the Degauss button. Check out the Refresh Rate.

Whats the refresh rate of monitor set to. Keep it on lowest possible value and see if this happens. Try the deguassing option if available and as somebody already suggested try pluggin in and out the main wire.

Check whether powersupply in your area is erratic and requires stabilizers for electronic goods. If everything is ok, get the monitor checked for defects.
