Are you pessimist or optimist?

I'm the type of person who thinks first very well before making any decision, and I consider both the pros and cons. Once I have decided to do something, I'm more of an optimistic person since I decided on that very carefully. I am disposed to take a favorable view of things. However, others advise me to be pessimist sometimes and expect for the worst so as to prevent getting hurt when all else fails... Is this true? What are you then? An optimist or pessimist?

I am much like you with thinking things through before becoming optimistic about something. I think that as long as you are realistic, and acknowledge the fact that not everything goes the way we want it to, it is ok to be optimistic. Sure, you're disappointed when things fail, but we have to take things in stride. If we never try, we never succeed.

I guess I am somewhere in the middle. I hope for the best while preparing for the worst. I do try and find a silver lining. However I am never really surprised when things don't go well.

I am a natural optimist. I always think that even things are not that great, they will become better eventually. I try not to worry a lot, but sometimes I can't really help it. I think, it is better to be optimist because it gives me a hopeful feeling than being a pessimist and become depressed.

Hi reco13, i'm an optimist, and it has it's advantages and disadvantages as well. I'm optimistic in all things that i do and with my optimistic attitude goes my money too, sometimes it very beneficial but other times i just want to kick myself for my optimistic viewpoint in life. Anyways, it is better to be an optimist than a pessimist, who is always worried about what to do next. Thank you.

I'm a pessimist one. I always prepare my mind to endure the worst thing maybe will happen, but my friend told me it's best for me to as a optimist, because if you think everything is good for you, then you will do better.

I'm a pessimist one because I am always pessimistic and world-weary. Whenever I decide to do something, I tend to get prepared to face the worst thing instead of dreaming a wonderful future. If I have meet some troubles, I may get despaired and prepare for the worst. Although I realize that it is wrong to have such an idea, I can't help thinking in this way. Of course, every coin has its two sides. To be overly optimistic or to be overly pessimistic is not a good thing for people.

I am very pessimistic, and I can't help it! My mom is a super-optimist, and whenever we become stressed she is always thinking of all the things that can go right, while I'm worrying about all the things that are bad, which are the things most likely to happen! I think that always expecting the worst to happen isn't good for your health (it isn't for mine), but if you really want to protect yourself then it's one way to go.
