If you haven't had coffee for a while, maybe a week or two, & you then have a cup, how does it affect you--other than the expected physical energy boost? I ask this because I was talking to another person & asked her if she had an emotional boost, along with the physical, & was surprised to learn she didn't! I do! I suddenly feel as though I have the ability to take on the world--which I expect--but I also feel a rush of love for everyone & everything! The skies aren't cloudy & gray, the birds sing (even at 4 A.M.! ), God's in His Heaven & all's right with the world! I mean, WOW!! So, am I alone in this? Or do you also feel like giving strangers a hug, & voting for the other party? (Thanks btw, Elicbxn, for the title of this post! ) Maggiepie "WHERE'S THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE?"

Coffee doesn't affect me at all. I never get hyperactive because of it. Lucky me I guess...

Sorry to say no. I haven't had this experience. I could never go a week or 2 without coffee. UNIMAGINABLE. That's right I am addicted to it. And happily so, If I don't come in for my morning cup send the search party out..

Sorry to hear that! I'm not really supposed to drink it, either, as it conflicts with some of my meds, but I developed a taste for it shortly after I was told to omit it from my diet! Perverse of me, yes? Maggiepie WHERE ARE any OF OBAMA'S RECORDS?!?

I used to get that surge of energy, where I felt that I could take on the world! That was back when I first used to glug coffee first thing in the morning...and all through the day. Now when I drink it...all it does for me is make me sleepy! So odd I know, but it may be a reverse affect if you drink too much?

I actually have heard it has that effect on some folks. No idea how, but I accept that there are more things in Heaven & Earth (...) than are dreamt of in my philosophy!" Maggiepie WHERE ARE any OF OBAMA'S RECORDS?!?

I have never gotten any kind of boost from my coffee I like the taste so that is why I drink it but with flavored creamers. I even drink a last mug before I go to bed and it doesn't keep me awake. The only coffee that has ever given me a reaction was when in Italy I drank the tiny cups of jet black espresso but then I was not too fond of the taste.

I trained myself to like it black, as I realized I might not always be able to get milk or cream. I do like it that way, though. There's no right or wrong way to drink it, since tastes are subjective, but here's a short ditty I've always enjoyed: "Coffee should be hot as Hell, Black as sin, &And sweet as a maiden's kiss." And I know what you mean about espresso...that stuff has LEGS, & could possibly get up & walk off the table! Whew, but it's strong! Maggiepie WHERE ARE any OF OBAMA'S RECORDS?!

Only thing coffee does to me is make me take 20 more bathroom breaks in the few hours after I drink it unless I'm drinking decaf. Otherwise, nothing.

Coffee has always had an ephemeral effect on me, in all ways. I drink it because I enjoy drinking it, but do it occasionally because I dislike it as a routine. I'd be bored and my mouth smells awful should I drink it regularly.

It probably wouldn't have that effect if you drank it regularly (true in my case, certainly), but...as to the smell, what do you think they invented toothpaste & mouthwash for? I'll bet even money those 2 industries are in cahoots! Maggiepie WHERE ARE any OF OBAMA'S RECORDS?!?

I drink coffee rarely and I love a good cup of it (but it's not too good to my stomach). The only effect (other than acid indigestion) that I know for sure that I get is that I can't sleep if I drink any after about 5 PM. Emotional boost, hm. Must conduct experiment! I'm far too reserved to hug strangers. Not only do I sometimes vote for "the other" party, but sometimes I vote for other parties other than the other party.

I love coffee. I took about a year off of the caffine due to being pregnant and when I started drinking the "real" stuff again, I was suprised that it still had no effect on me. I wasn't energized, it was just a good cup of joe. For me it's more of a comfort food, so it calms me down and makes me feel at peace. Not so much like I'm going to take on the world, just that all is right with it.

I love V8. In fact, I love tomatoes in all ways I've had 'em (except broiled; not sure why, but it just seems to flatten the flavor to me), from fried green to sugared, the way some Chinese like them. Turns out there's something in tomatoes that exacerbates arthritis. I have osteoarthritis. I use a walker & sometimes a chair. I still eat tomatoes. That'll tell you all you need to know about what a dam-fool stubborn woman I am! Maggiepie WHERE ARE any OF OBAMA'S RECORDS?!?

I drink coffee only when I'm very sleepy and need to keep awake for some important reasons. It helps a little but taking two cup of it makes my heart beats faster. I also feel a bit nervous or tense even without any reason.

Better ease up on it, then, hun. Maybe your body is trying to tell you something? Some folks don't have hearts strong enough for coffee, you know. Maggie WHERE ARE any OF OBAMA'S RECORDS?!
