Do you have Cable TV and the Music Channels?

I have Direct TV and I have all the bells and whistles. All the movie channels like HBO and Showtime and it comes with all kinds of music channels that don't carry video with them just music. Personally, I think they are a waste of money. Why have the music without the video to go with it. What do you think? I don't pay any extra for it and won't pay any less if they took it away.

You want to hear something funny. My parents still have an antenna on their roof. They are in their early 70's and millionaires. My dad is a tightwad and refuses to pay that extra money every month. I guess that attitude is what allowed him to amass his small fortune. He uses a computer, but only the one at the local library!

[b]My cable company carries my favorite "newage" (not a typo...) radio station, "Soundscapes," & it shows slides of drab scenes from nature, or the artist who played &/or composed the tune playing, with the usual info on the artist's background, name of album, song title & release date. They used to only have a black screen, which if you tapped your remote, would briefly reveal the album cover & pertinent info, but later, they apparently opted for the washed out slides now up constantly, due to requests. They're not worth seeing, in my opinion, partly because of the grayish look ("veddy tasteful don't you know..." Blehhh...), & partly because of the very limited stable of pictures. But for the most part it's because having a black screen used to allow me to run the music to put me to sleep. Now, instead, I have this huge, boring, bright nightlight! And there's no-one to whom one can complain, now! Believe me, I've tried! If I didn't absolutely love their selections (Constance Demby! Shae! Tomita! Kitaro!! 2002! TUU!), I'd just put on one of my small collection of CDs, & say forget it. But I do love it, so I bury my head under a pillow & bear with it. So, have you heard of Soundscapes? It's one of many stations offered through "Music Choice." Maggiepie STALKERS WILL BE EATEN...^..^

We probably have much music, but I am not interested enough to check it out. We do have CMT (Country Music Channel) as part of our package, but the only thing we watch on there is the sitcom REBA (starring Reba Macintyre. We don't use our TV for music. We listen to a lot of on-line radio, and have a lot of CDs.

Hi cookie, I have Sky and only have one of the cheapest packages with them but included are all the music channels too, my son loves watching them, but if I didn't have them then it wouldn't matter to me and am sure my son could manage without the music channels...LoLo

mtv - Music Television. How nice it is to watch our favorite artist sing and dance in front of us.
Well I guess it's not a waste of money for you because you had it for just an extra. We also have that sorts of channels. It's like a radio in a television. At first it was weird but when our radio stopped working we made a very good use of it. shadow41

My daughter has it but I haven't seen her use it. From what I know it is just like a "radio" listening. I wouldn't mind cause that way when I were home I could move around the house and do other things while still hearing the music. To me- no different than a cd or radio. But I can say there would be times when it would be nice to watch a music video of some of my favorites. I have seen some of those on YouTube.

Yes of course.I do have a cable TV connection. The channels that I subscribe to are news, knowledge and educational, music and regional channels.I do not subscribe to channels that my family wont be watching. As this would only result in an increase in the monthly expenses for the subscription.

I don't have Direct TV and not HBO or Showtime but I have Cable and the music channels. When I can't sleep I go through the easy listening and it helps me to sleep. They have alot of trivia and old pictures of the preformers so I think that is a nice change from the videos. Alot of the time the videos have nothing to do with the music and is just alot of mish mosh.

we have cable and get a bunch of music channels, they are nice to have, we put them on when we have friends over to play cards, it's easier than loading and unloading the cd changer and the types of music available are numerous. It's nice to have on in the background sometimes instead of the tv noise.

I do have cable tv but literally its more of a satellite set up. I purchased a disk and its installed in our house with a receiver. I do not pay a monthly bill since I buy a load to receive signals and watch it like having a cable. I do think that I can save from this since there are times that the movies are recycled. So I usually skip a month or two depending on when I want to received signals and watch. It also comes with music. In my case, I prefer it this way rather than pay a monthly bill most especially that I am always on travel as part of my work.

No, not any more. When I got serious about revamping my budget in this economy, it was one of the very first things to go, as I seldom watch a lot of TV any way. Hope you're feeling better. Karen

I have cable TV but we do not extra movie channels anymore. We get one music channel which does show video show on it. I have been to friends that have the music channel without the video and I agree with you it is a waste of money if I just want to listen to music I can turn the radio on.

What? a channel that dont have a video, only music? You should change your direct TV or cable TV provider. It is supposed to be visual cause it is television, they are just wasting their channel lign up space. They could have put some quality channels on it. If thats the case id rather listen to a radio. Oh, or maybe someone request for that channel to be added on the lign up. They probably think that someone would like it, but i guess you are not.

Would kinda think if you pay no extra and would not pay any less, just accept the channels you may find a use or them I know sometimes I like to just listen while doing something else.

I have cable TV but the sad thing is my remote control was busted and the change channle butttons of the TV is not working. Thanks to my kids. So i end up with one channel until i can purchase a new remote control. But I don't think i'm buying anytime soon because that was the third remote control. I'm teaching the kids that when they destroy the most important thing in the house everyone will suffer. Their basically begging me to get one so they can watch cartoons, but sorry kids it ain't going happen soon. Maybe as a christmas gift from santa claus LOL. Cheers!
