I just want some sleep

My son is 4 weeks old and he's been awake all morning. I can't seem to get him in a good routine and I haven't been getting much sleep at all. When he wakes up in the morning for his eating and changing he stays awake for about 3 hours and then he starts to fight sleep and gets very grumpy and it's hard for me to get him to sleep. Any suggestions?

i'm terribly sorry that you've been unable to get some rest due to your newborn. i don't have any kids myself but i've read up on it and things. i do want kids later on in my life though. i did read that you should try to place him in his room but make his room kind of dark so that way he will always go to sleep when it's night time. but since he's a newborn i'm not positive how long it takes for them to get into a routine. i use to help my neighbor with her newborn, but she would normally wake her daughter up at certain times to feed her and then put her back to bed. i don't know she might just got a special touch. good luck.

Thanks, I've done that with his room and try to keep it as dark as possible. It's kinda hard to do that when I'm changing him so what I do is when he wakes up I feed him half of his bottle, then I flip the light on so that I can change him, and then I give him the rest of the bottle to settle him back down and be ready for bed after he finishes. He usually wakes up before I can wake him up for his feedings.
