They knew I was running into a situation where I was babysitting for my sister who decided to start school this year. And I was only gonna be able to make it a certain 4 days a week. Instead of letting me work those 4 days a week. I work one of them. guh! How do I handle a situation like this? i'm almost considering just asking to be laid off.

I am sorry that your boss is has really cut your hours back. I am wondering if part of it has to do with the economy. I know I graduated college this July and have been unable to find work. If I get lucky I sub once in a while. I think it is great that you babysit for your sister who is in college. A college education is so important. I think it is great that she can find the time to attend school and still raise a family. I hope things will look better after the 1st of the year. Best of luck to you.

Employers: can't live with them; can't make a living without them. It is sad that employers basically decide that anyone who is not available 24/7 deserves even less hours. Says something about how much humanity you are allowed to have as a boss. In my case, it was college that got in the way. And as an ex-manager, I know that it is actually something that can be worked around. No solutions, just sympathy.
