Even though I am a Chippewa Indian from the Great Lakes area, I like Norse mythology. I like other belief systems too including my own of course, but to just read stuff for enjoyment's sake, that's what I will check out sometimes. Who do you like to read?

I like Norse Mythology too. I'm studing that since many years. It's a great passion for me! p.s.It seems strange but Norse Shamanism has some common factor with Indian Shamanism :)

I was raised in a Canadian household by German parents. But I'm an avid reader of Norse/Scandinavian (mostly Icelandic) mythology. I've actually taken up those ancient ways as my faith, Asatru. If you come across the right information, then it shouldn't be odd that Norse stuff has some things in common with Indian stuff (I'm assuming you mean East Indian). Both these sets of peoples came from the same ancient group (genetics, culture and language -- far enough back) called the Indo-Europeans. When most of the subgroups in that group turned west, those who would become Indian turned east. ;) Many words with Germanic origins, for instance, can be connected linguistically with similar words in modern Indian language. There is also one of the stories of Norse mythology, that of a god calling himself Rig (widely believed to be Heimdal, the guardian of the rainbow bridge to Asgard) coming to Midgard (Earth) and fathering three classes of people, Jarl ("earl", nobility), Karl ("farmer", freeman) and Thrall ("slave"). Indian mythology has a whole group of stories about a figure by the same name (the collection is called the Rig Veda, if I remember correctly), including, I think, a very similar story setting up the caste system. If anyone is interested in finding out more about the Asatru faith, feel free to ask questions. We're all here to chat, after all.

I like Norse Mythology which is actually called Asatru by its followers. Which is what I study. The reason I study and believe it is because its something that I can relate to and understand.
