Lights, music and getting squashed!

That is what I have in store for me next weekend. I am taking my kids to see the Christmas lights in town, and I have to go on Saturday as they are at school in the week. They also want to visit santa's grotto, so I will have to face the crowds. I guess its better now than nearer the actual date though. Christmas music is already playing on the telly and in the shops, infact I have been hearing it since October. Normally I put my decorations up on the first day of December, but this year I am going to wait. Otherwise I will be sick of the site of them by the time Christmas day comes! Don't get me wrong I love Christmas but every year it gets earlier. Plus I hate the crowds in town all rushing around trying to do Christmas shopping. What are your pet hates and likes when it comes to Christmas? Maybe you like the crowds or like hearing christmas music for 3 months of the year? Or maybe you are like me, love the day itself but not so keen in the run up to the date?

I hate crowds and I hate lines. I love Christmas at home and I love the kids' reactions, but all the shopping and other work in advance, not so much any more. Getting old and cranky. lol

Thats the main reason I love ebay!!! I have done most of my shopping online this year, though I did face the crowds in town to take the kids to santas grotto

I feel Christmas is for CHILDREN!!! I soooo love watching a child around Christmas as they get all excited!!! I've gotten to where I HATE the shopping. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE TO SHOP...but people are so rude around Christmastime that I don't enjoy shopping during the Christmas Holiday!!! I actually do most of my gift shopping ALL during the year. I had ALL the females I need to buy for bought by the end of September. I find the males much harder to buy for than the females. They seem to want things like power tools, etc about which I don't have any knowledge plus they are expensive!!! So, I'm down to 3 gifts to buy with NO clue what it is I'll be buying!!! The closer it gets to Christmas Day, the more stressed I feel to come up with something!!!

Your right about people being rude when you are shopping at Christmas. They push passed you as if you weren't there etc etc. I hate it. People should just chill out!! I have the boys sorted for Christmas its the girls I have to buy for now. I have done it the opposite way around. The harder one first. Though I am still contemplating whether to buy my kids a big present that they all really want, but is expensive and they will have to share, also meaning less stocking fillers. Or whether to go midway and make stocking presents better with a smaller seperate large present each. I think I will decide nearer the time we still have 4 weeks shopping left...

Hi, skyblue25. Around the first week of December that is later on in that week, I will start getting into the Christmas spirit. I will listen to the music and carols. I start to look into magazines so that I can order items that I need. I am planning to let my kids go and see the Christmas lights at Swan Lake Gardens. Every year they have millions of lights that the City puts up.. It is so creative and beautiful! My kids love to see all of the animated characters. And I can't wait to go and see it for myself! Last year, I was just thinking, Wow!! They sure do have many lights to take down, now, it is time to put them all back up again. Boy!! Time does go by fast!

I am hoping now my hubby has passed his driving test and we are getting a car in the new year, we can go a bit further a field to see better Christmas lights. I don't mind getting squashed in the crowds so much if its worth while for the kids. If somewhere has the WOW factor then its worth the trouble. Until then I will have to put up with the usual ones. Oh well its only one more year!! Thanks for the reply
