Just wondering

Well, it's cold and flu season again. It seems like I this time of year, I always get a bad case of Strep Throat. I woke up nearly unable to swallow because my throat hurt so bad. Last year, I had strep so bad I couldn't breathe or eat, and needed cough syrup laced with hydro-codeine. Then it turned into bronchitis. Since then I've been thinking about getting my tonsils removed so I wouldn't get sick anymore. But that got me wondering about something else. If I got my tonsils removed, would that also get rid of my gag reflex?

hello there.. whoa.. it must have really hurt that bad that you really wanted your tonsils removed.. but isnt that a bad thing?? im not a doctor but ive learned since i was a kid that every part of our body plays a vital role and that it is needed one way or the other.. some people who have had some parts of their body removed eg. kidneys, appendixes have never been the same since.. so i suggest you seek medical help and try to avoid removing your tonsils maybe it can still be cured.. have a nice day..

I've heard the same thing, but I've also heard that there are some parts of our body that really don't do a whole lot, such as our appendix or tonsils. A couple of my friends have had their tonsils removed. They said that it was better for them because they haven't had strep throat since. I do plan on talking to my doctor about it before I make any decisions. I would honestly rather not have to go through (or have to pay) for a surgery if it can be cured.

No I do not think it would solve your Problems as coughing and Bronchitias re in the chest Area the tonsils are in the throat area and if you Tonsils are not swollen then it has nothing to do with them Of course if you do have problems with them then yes it would be good to have them removed but it will not solve the Chest Problem
