Death and the Internet

I belong to another site similar to the Lot and recently it seems that a lot of it's members are passing away. I know there is no relation to the net and their deaths. I'm just wondering how others feel when their online friends pass. I feel bad for them and their families but should I grieve like I would my offline friends? I don't know them like I know the people here on MyLot. I feel a real connection to a LOT of my MyLot friends and even talk them on other sites. This other site though, I don't feel a real connection to most of them, just a few. At that site I have daily interactions with these people but no connection, I don't know how I should feel about them passing. Here on the Lot, I don't have daily interactions but I DO feel that connection. I would definitively mourn the passing of my friends here. Is the death of your online friends even something that crosses your mind?

That's kind of how I feel at this other site. I am always sad to get the news but I really don't feel like I know these people. Here, I feel like I know people personally.
