JanSport or Western Digital?

It's christmas season again. Right now I'm quite confused as what to ask my mom for. I can have anything I want as long as it's under US$100 and is actually available in the country I live in.
I've been choosing between an external hard drive for my laptop, or a new backpack for my college things. This is a tough call for me as of the moment, as I want the hard drive space to back up my files, but I want the backpack because my four-year-old JanSport is starting to wear out. I don't seem to need either, though--this VAIO still has a lot of space and I have around twenty schoolbags to choose from.
If you were in my shoes, what would you choose?

I would go with the hard drive because you can buy yourself the jansport for just $19.99 for $99.99 you can probably get a 500g - 750G hard drive.

Okay, I would love to have an external hard drive because, I think it's more important and it is quite expensive than a backpack.
lolz... If you want you can budget the amount that your mom will give you, like buy a more cheaper bag but still in good quality then, buy the external hard drive. hehe!

I'd say the external hard drive as it's always good to back up files, especially if they are of importance.
