Way back then, I always get annoyed when one of my room mate study her lessons, because she read out loud. She told me that she can't understand what she read if she read it silently. It's quite strange. How about you, do you read silently or our loud.

Hmm i do read with only my eyes. for me reading loud is quite a waste of time, it makes your reading slowly. But if the word is hard to understand i pronounced it so i can remember easily. There are many style we can use whatever it is. It's you who decide and to where you are used to as long you understand it. For me i can really understand what i'm reading if i read silently with headphones on. Yesh!

Yeah, reading out loud takes me a long time to finish what I'm reading. And I also get tired and can't concentrate with what I read. That's why I find it strange those people who read out loud. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

I read silently. I have always been that way. Since my childhood days I have always read silently. I created a lot of problems for me as well. My mother would never know whether I am studying or playing games. Sometimes, even though I have studied for some time, she would see my playing games and would get angry with me. I read a lot of books and do it without making any noise. I like to be silent and I feel that it helps me to concentrate more.

I can relate one of my good friends does this and while we usually study very well together whenever he has to read an extended amount it can get annoying.

hi careguarden! yes, i do read out load especially if what i'm reading is something that i need to memorize like a reviewer for an exam. however, this does not go on for a long time. i do this for about two or three times. i read through the whole document out loud and then settle down and read it silently. nowadays, i read out load when reading a story for my daughter. i really want her to have an interest in reading. i think it is workign so far because she has shown an interest in books (she has a couple of favorite ones already) and she asks me to read her a story before she goes to sleep at night. cheers!!!

If I am reading something for a class that I'm really not interested in or that is really technical (like history books or psychology books), I have found that reading it out loud helps me to focus on it. I am less likely to fall asleep, less likely to read the same sentence ten times before moving onto the next one

I do read out loud when I erading the stuff I write or type. But I dont when I am reading newspaper. Actually I dislike people read out newspaper, books or something, as you said that's really annoying. Maybe you can tell her to stop. Sometimes people even dont know they read out loud cuz it is already their habit. And that's all I wanna share.

Well actually I just talked to her not to stopped reading out loud but rather to find a place where she could do her things, or to learn to read and study her lessons silently. Since it really disturbed me a lot, sometimes I find myself listening to her reading instead of studying my lesson. But I do understand her, since it's her habit, and habit is hard to break, it needs time to change. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your weekends!

There are times, when I do read out loud. Most of the time, I don't. I usually read quietly. But sometimes I have a difficult time understand something, and that's when I read out loud. It's to help me understand better what I'm reading, which helps me understand what I'm not reading.

I'm a silent reader. I don't know why, bet when I read aloud I don't understand what it's about not like silently reading, I could understand it much better. But when I was a student, I would read aloud if I need to memorize it. It really is quite strange.

No, As far as I am concerned, I think I will not read it so loud. I like to read silent when I am around a lot people.I think ,if I read it silent, I can memorize the word of the content so well. Silent helps me a lot in my reading. I think you may try the silent reading.
