I am a fan of the Weather Channel, I check in on it at least five or six times a day. I am now seeing the weather for the North east and these states are in a serious weather blizzard. One of my MyLot friends has been posting pictures of the snow and the weather where she lives (Maryland). This is very serious weather and serious conditions. I am in the south and we are not experiencing this kind of weather. But it has raining a lot here. Are you in the 2009 Blizzard? If so how are you coping with the blizzard? Have you been able to do any of your Christmas shopping. EveryOne Have a Very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year.

My SUV - I have this to face today. Thankfully, I have 4-wheel-drive. I've never had to use it before so this should be interesting. LOL
Hi, Chevee. Are you talking about me? I moved from Maryland to Virginia 2 1/2 years ago. But, I think we all got the same weather. We ended up with 33 inches of snow. The "official" report was 22 inches but they didn't bother coming here with their measuring tape. I have one stuck in the snow right now and it's saying 33 inches. I have the Weather Channel on right this minute. We got all this snow Friday night through yesterday night and there's more heading our way! They're calling for flurries today, then snow showers on Thursday with a wintery mix on Friday. Snow on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day!!! I can only remember one Christmas when it snowed before. Of course, we REALLY don't need more snow right now! It is not supposed to get above freezing today and will not get much above it throughout the week so this snow is here to stay for awhile. I'll be going out in it soon to have a little fun. I can't do much because I pulled a muscle in my shoulder on Friday and it's still hurting pretty badly today but not enough to prevent me from having a little fun. I'll have more pictures today of me in the snow, as long as I can get grumpy out the door with me to take the pictures. I'm taking my little Maltese girls with me and that should be interesting since my tallest girl stands only about a foot high and this snow is almost two feet above her head! Oh, wow! I just looked outside and we are, indeed, getting snow flurries right now! I've got to take more pictures of the gorgeous scenery around here! This much snow is very treacherous but it is also so very beautiful. It's still so peaceful and quiet right now. This snow has apparently halted all outdoor activities for now, no one is driving, no one is working outside. They're probably all doing what I'm doing: peeking out their windows and marveling at how beautiful everything is. This has been the snowiest December that I can ever recall. Normally, we get snow like this in February. That is known as the "snow month". December is usually just cold and miserable. If this is any indication on what our winter is going to be like, we're in for a bad one, albeit beautiful. My Christmas shopping is finished. I did that on Friday. I braved the hoards of people who were out panic shopping. (Yep, the bread aisle was almost completely empty. lol) I had only a few things to get but wanted to get them before the snow hit so I wouldn't be worrying about them. I did need milk so I picked some up then. It wasn't a "panic" thing for me. I needed milk to finish my Christmas baking (cookies, cakes, breads and candies). If I were able to get out (which is impossible until SOMEBODY shovels our driveway) I might pick up a few things as stocking stuffers but I really do have enough. Any more would just be overkill. You have a Very Merry Christmas and the best of New Year's, too, Chevee!

Hey! The Weather Channel just showed a photograph taken in Winchester, Virginia, where I live! It was of a snow-covered pine tree, decorated with lights that someone here had sent in. Beautiful!

Yes, I am talking about you, I just can't keep up with the state you live in for some reason. Now I know it is Virginia. Even though you say the snow is treacherous and plentiful, the way you tell about it make me wish I was there, I love the way you make things enjoyable. Take care of those little girls (Maltese), I saw a picture of one, a Maltese on the TV out in the snow and you could barely see her in all the snow on the ground. Even through the hard-ship you were going through, I can see you are truly blessed. Have a great day in the snow with the girls and the family.

Yes there ARE two dogs in this picture. LOL - They almost blend into the snow but they're there. I could tell because I could see their little black button noses. LOL
There's always a good side to everything and I'll do everything I can to find it. I did see the beauty and awesomeness of this snow, God's way of decorating our house for Christmas since I couldn't this year. Here's a photo I took of my girls having fun on the deck while I was TRYING to shovel a path so they could see the yard. They couldn't wait for me to get to the railing. They were so excited, I had to stop shoveling while they played. They were so cute!

We had just a gray day today, after a springlike day yesterday. Our weather was a couple of weeks ago. I am pretty well done with shopping, and I sure better be. Going to go celebrate tomorrow.

I'm in North Carolina and we got about 8 inches which isn't too too bad but it's enough. Too much really but at least we're not snowed in like people in more northern areas, thank God! I hate snow. Never liked it so you can see why I say too much. lol Hubby cleared out our drive way as best as he could and we made a snow man just for the fun of doing it. We haven't made a snow man since we were kids and never with each other so we did so today. Memories to cherish in our old age when we get there.... But the roads are still covered and being in the freezing temperatures tonight, it'll turn into ice over night so we're stuck at home for a few days....

I don't like snow, cold weather, sleet, icy roads none of the above. When we have that kind of weather everything close down here. The south is not used to that kind of weather. Have a blessed nigh.

Hi Cheeve, I have been watching the weather report on the tv too and seen how bad is over ther, here in the UK we are experiencing snow too an we are very lucky in the little area where we live as we only had about 5 inches of snow, we also had some rain so the snow will soon go but earlier on tie was just sheets of ice on the road, good thing I have had done my Christmas shopping before it snowed, take care and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, hugs. Hey chevee! Nice to see you! How are you? Well, I live in NY and we did get part of the "blizzard", but it turned out to not be anywhere near as bad as what the were prediciting for us! I think we got maybe 6-8 inches instead of the 16 inches we were supposed to get! Not that 8 inches is fun to walk in, but it isn't anything like the other states got hit with! So, I am thankful that it wasn't as bad as it could have been! And I'd like to wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year too!

Hi Opal. I'm glad to hear you didn't get all that snow they were predicting. We actually got MORE than they predicted. They said up to two feet for us but, even though the official report was 22 inches for Winchester, Virginia, I stuck a yardstick in the snow and it measured 33 inches, total. And that was NOT where the wind had blown the snow. In some places, the wind had blown it up to the height of the hood of my SUV! My husband is stuck at home for now. He's a very lazy man and waited until the last minute today to try and get his truck out to the road. Even his Dodge Dakota got stuck! It slid kinda sideways and said, That's It! I'm not budging! So, of course, my husband gave up and said he's working from home tomorrow. In his defense, our driveway is on a steep hill down to the road, with the other side of the road going sharply downward into our neighbor's farm. (That's what we get for moving to the mountains. Nothing is flat! LOL) Anyway, I'm glad you didn't get as much as you expected since you didn't want that much. I really don't care as long as I can get out of here to go to the grocery store if I need to. We're supposed to have freezing rain on Friday... yes, Christmas day. I have the feeling I'm going to have food for 10 people with only 4 people eating it, at the most! It might end up just being my husband and myself. If you lived closer, I'd invite you to stay for Christmas and the weekend. Wouldn't that be fun?!?!

I am not in the blizzard (we live in west texas) but all of our family is except one and she lives in maine and only got one inch of snow. The rest live in Virginia and got 30 inches of snow. I wish I were there! They have been snowed in for days. My neice is an RN and has had to stay at the hospital since friday because they can't get staff in and out. I am sure this is putting a damper on last minute shopping.

Not me, nor would I want to be. BRRR! I hate snow! I like the Weather Channel too but for some unknown reason my local cable company decided about a week ago to take it away from me. They also took Tru TV, the rats

We have also been watching the weather channel lately because of the blizzard. We have not been caught in the storm but we have friends from Virginia that where, they got over 2 feet of snow and told us that they are trapped into their house because they can not get up into their drive way. We only got about an inch or an inch and a half of snow and while it is the most we have received all year it is way less than what we normally have this time of year so i am not going to complain. We are only about 20 miles away from where the big storm hit...

Unfortuately we dont got the Weather Channel in my country, but i can tell you it seems like the whole nothern hemisphere is a part of a huge Blizzard. Half of nothern Europe is covered in one big pile of snow. Especially in countries not used to such amount of snow totally breaks down... Crazy here...

I am from Ma. This storm is awesome because I love getting snowed in. I finished all my christmas shopping so I'm all set with that. The storm just stopped but had been going on since 9 PM yesterday. We are supposed to get more snow around 5 o'clock tonight. I have been wrapping gifts all day for Christmas so I feel very accomplished!
