I always wished I could play an instrument but I never had the opportunity to learn. My grandson is learning who to play the guitar in school. Do you know how to play and instrument, which one and when and where did you learn? Do you still play it now?

Yes I played the piano when I was about like 13 or 14 at my family friends house because she was a teacher. I stopped after a while and now I don't play it as often. I don't regret stopping my piano classes but I DO regret not continuing to play the piano because God gave the piano skill to me and since I didn't embrace it, God took it away. As of now...I have start from scratch. Sure I might remember the minor stuff I learned but I barely know how to play now. So my advice is to keep doing what you started before you lost it forever..well maybe not forever.

I can play the piano. I started learning when I was about 7 1/2 - 8 years old from a private piano teacher. I actually stopped taking lessons at the very end of 2008 because I wanted my brother to start learning. He was bout 8 1/2 - 9 years old at the time. So I gave up my lessons so that he could start so that my parents wouldn't have to pay for both my brother and I because piano lessons start adding up. I'm at the point where I can play on my own and read the notes by myself so I don't need too much instruction but it's also not as if it wouldn't help either. I do still play the piano now but not as often because I usually do other things, but I still keep up with it because I love playing the piano and it's something I don't ever want to forget. I wish I could play the guitar also!! I've started learning a couple times already and got as far as learning some of the chords and playing some simple songs, but I stopped and so now I've forgotten almost everything (except the C chord). I'm hoping that I can try guitar again because I really want to learn it. In the beginning its a little difficult because you have to develop calluses on your fingertips, otherwise it would hurt, but I think it's really all worth it if you can play the guitar in the end. You can definitely learn an instrument no matter what age!! It will take a lot of practice and dedication, but if you really want to learn and you put hardwork into it, it's definitely possible =D

I play the piano, but there is no room for a piano in this apartment. Also, when I used to live at home, everytime I'd sit down to play for a bit, people were buzzing around me till I started to feel like a circus freak. LOL I know they were in there because they thought I was pretty good, but sometimes I just wanted to sit in peace. Writing is a much better hobbie, because I don't have an audience while doing it. LOL

I can play the piano. I took lessons from K-5 until high school. I never liked it, and my level of learning isn't as good as my mother's or sister's, but I can play okay. I don't play the piano now though. I don't own one, and I really have no reason to play the piano at my parent's home.

I don't play an instrument. I always thought it would be cool to learn how to play piano. I never had the opportunity to play either. I thought about doing it even now, but I think I'm too old to learn lol. i don't have the patience that I used to have.

I took lessons on the piano and that taught me to read music, but I'll never be good because the last lessons were when I was 12... I tried to learn the flute - but the blowing made my head hurt so I quit.

I'm not musical, so I really don't care if I can play an instrument - I guess I could find my way around a piano again if I really needed to

piana - photo of a child playing the piano
Hi my friend, I learned to play the piano many, many years ago when I was a youngster. I took instructions from a neighborhood instructor for about 5 years and then when I was older, I took further instruction from a professor at a college. It was okay, but after awhile, I felt that I was at a point that all I could have learned was more technique and I was getting bored by it. Of course, I was like 16 at the time and didn't have time for practicing etc. with those boys around. lol An no I don't play anymore. I have probably forgotten most of it. Happy MyLotting! Char

Nice and interesting topic my friend because I remember my high school days. I mean, when I was at my high school days I used to play guitar in fact we had a school band and it was so worth remembering. How I wish I could turn back the hands of time.....well, that's next to impossible I know. Right now I never play it anymore because of so many priorities, very busy on my job and everything that I could not anymore remember to play it whenever I would spend my vacant time...Thanks for the nice topic... Mobhomeir here...
