Men vs. Femininity

I believe that real men embrace their femininity. It frustrates me when a lot of people always look down on people who embrace it. This includes: Shaking their hips, doing their hair, putting on make-up, watching or even crying at chick flicks, etc. It's all in the mind. It is the society and what they make us think and brainwash into peoples' brain on gender roles and identity. What do you guys think? Is it ok that guys have femininity?

I think for myself, I do admit that if I see a guy doing any of those things, I automatically assume that they might be gay for being too feminine. That doesn't mean that they are though. For myself, I prefer more masculine guys, so guys who like to embrace their femininity in that way, turn me off. I do think that the society is brainwashing us to think a certain way, but sometimes if you agree with what society is giving you even though you realize it, then you do. To me, a guy/man is suppose to be masculine and should be more masculine than feminine in any way. I can't really explain why I feel this way. I suppose it's just what I'm use to. But that's also what I look for in guys. How masculine they are, but not to a crazy extent.

Yea I agree with some of the things you stated. I just wish society would give much more tolerance and allow guys to embrace their femininity. Im not saying go all crazy and act like girls. Im just saying at least make people tolerant of even the little feminine things like shaking their hips, doing their hair, or even crying at chick flick. Thanks for the response! =]

Guys should not do any of those things. Those things are for girls to do, especially the make up bit.. If any of my male friends wore makeup I would make fun of them a lot. What is wrong with having gender roles? Maybe they are a useful way of categorizing things, and they have to be based on some sort of reality or else they wouldn't exist.

Well I agree with youre saying to an extent. But for the make up part I am not necessarily talking about to the extreme. Im talking about like just eyeliner and foundation,etc...basic stuff. And yes I do believe that gender roles categorizes things, HOWEVER, there are some things that are feminine that guys just like to do and it shouldn't be wrong. Say for example there were some guys shaking their hips for dance, it shouldn't be wrong but some people consider that to be too feminine because of the idea of shaking their hips. Yes a guy should do more muscular things, but shouldn't be afraid to show their feminine side. It shows that they are comfortable in their own skin. Thanks for the response! =]
