It recently got pretty bad around where I live, it's my first year driving and i've already had a couple interesting experiences. What kind of problems have you had and do you have any tips for me?

I have been driving since 1983 and have my share of accidents and such. I will have to agree about driving slower during snow/ice and pump your brakes if your vehicle hits ice, etc. Also if you have to travel on a road with thick snow cover, try to maintain a constant speed if possible, if you stop you may get stuck, if you accelerate too quickly you may lose control of vehicle. Also, remember bridges and overpasses freeze before road surfaces because you have cold airflow over and below the pavement.
