The early 2000s and events forgotten in the decade

This unforgettable decade is about to come to an end (or it maybe the new decade by the time you read this). I am disappointed at how the media is putting technology of just the past few years (i.e. smartphones, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook) on an even field with the powerful events we witnessed. When the century began, the prediction was made that the Internet and communications would expand so the tech story is not that impressive in my opinion. The media and many folks seem to have forgotten about what happened in the early part of the decade, except for the 2000 election, 9/11, and the run-up to the Iraq War. I certainly haven't.

Yeah, this decade is almost over and because we have been bombarded with so much technology, it's probably the most likely thing people will remember. But i still remember those tragic events and yeah, it's very tragic indeed... have you see farrenheit 9/11 by any chance?

I did see that Fahrenheit 9/11. I am new to My Lot and I wanted put further comments through separate entries. So I will add my comments here. Here are some of the news stories and newsmakers forgotten: *Elian goes back to dad in Cuba. *The Texas 7 escape prison. *Jennifer Wilbanks, the "runaway bride" from Georgia who ended up in the Southwest with a cloth covering her head. *Lisa Nowak, the female NASA astronaut crazily "fighting" for her man in a nasty love triangle. *Harvey Pitt exiting from the SEC in disgrace after Enron, Worldcom and other companies collapse *Pat Croce, executive who lead the 76ers to the 2001 NBA Finals Some of the reality shows and TV programs forgotten: *Blind Date hosted by Roger Lodge *Rendez-View hosted by Greg Proops and a red-headed relationship expert where a couple going on a date would be microscopically analyzed by the 2 hosts and 2 guests in front of a studio audience *The Weakest Link *Temptation Island *The Bachelor, followed by The Bachelorette *Who Wants To Marry a Multimillionaire? which featured Darva Conger *I want to add my viewing of Survivor 2 (2001), the only Survivor I watched: a lady from the Knoxville, TN area upset Colby; Elisabeth Hasselbeck was on this program which took me a while to remember; it had the obnoxious but irresistible Jerri Manthey Some of the products that I wanted to buy or foolishly bought: *the Palm Pilot: I still want one! *Ab belts: yes, I bought one of those; due to the unsupported claims, the Feds decided to step in *24 hour diet drinks: yes, I bought one of those too; this was an orange-juice type drink in which the supposed result would be weight reduction and that did happen to me to some extent What do you all think about what was forgotten about the decade? Have any to add?

Wow... that's a long list you have there and many of them i have forgotten and some i have never even heard about before. Well, there is one thing that has almost reached its extinction- sour straps and sugar sticks.

I think it goes to show how eventful the decade was. But it still feels like it went fast.
