I want to put up another computer. I don't want to pay the cable company another fee. I was told I can hook it to my cable box. Is this true. I have to put up this other computer. my daughter and I fight for time on this one here. Thanks happy new Year!

When you say cable box do you have extra ports on your cable box for another cable? I have a wireless router but I don't use the wireless option. I have one computer connected to this and there are three other ports for three more cables hence three more computers. You can then create your own home network. What type of cable box do you have? How many ports does it have? Good luck. Andrew

I have two computers and my kids have one. two years ago my husband bought me a new computer with our refund money. so i gave my old computer to our kids to play their learning games on. then this year for black friday they had a great deal on a laptop and I've always wanted a laptop. So we got me one as my early christmas gift.

Yes! You can share your one internet connection with as many computers you'd like. For the cheapest way to do it you will need a cross-linked cable and 2 network cards on your main pc. You will put the internet cable in one, and the cross-linked between the two pc in the second network card. Then all you have to do is start the network wizard and share your files, printers, and internet connection. Routers and switches are usually required for more then 2 computers, and those who still purchase them either don't know about setting up pc to pc network, or need wireless for laptop. If you still want to purchase router aim for one with wireless option even if u don't need it right now. It may become handy later on. Also some wireless routers come with one or two usb wireless cards, thus you could skip putting wires all over the house and connect both your pc and that of your daughter's via wireless. Hope this helps. Happy New year!

I have 15 systems, all comps share the same internet connection through a 16 ports switch and a DHCP enabled router. You too can do same thing if you are thinking to have more than 2 systems. If you are having 2 comps. then you can buy a extra LAN card for the main system then connect the other system (client) to your main (server) system and share internet to that extra LAN card if your DSL router has only one slot for LAN. For more details use windows help in your OS.
