Hello, I own a tropical fish store if there are any questions out there I will do my best to anwser them.

I used to have an ordinary fish tank but the fish didn't live all that long, maybe you can tell us what a fish life span is.....do they only have short lives.

Different species of fish have different live spans. What kind of fish did you have? If they were small fish such as guppies or zebra danios, the life span is only a couple of years, some may live a few years. If you had larger fish such as angelfish then the lifespan is closer to 10 years. Also how large of a tank did you have and how many fish (and what kinds) did you have in there? Did they die within a few days? they it could be a problem of not having a cycled tank. Let us know about the tank so that we can give you a better chance of keeping fish in the future.

I has a two and a half tank wiyh pump and I usually got the common gold fish you see in the shops, but I did find they seemed to live longer in dirty waterather than testing and cleaning the tank all of the time...they used to live a few months on average although one orange and white one lived about a year,,,

Got a 2 feet long Silver Aruwana for three years now. I buy for about $300.00 when its still just a feet long. I'm just wondering how much would it cost in todays market. Anyway, she loves to eat roaches and other insects.
