Is it true that POLO sport can only be played right handed?

I was talking to a friend of mine about the advantages some left handed or left footed players have in their respective sports when he told me that polo could only be played with the right hand. He told me that the right hand is used to hold the stick to strike the ball, while the left hand is used to ride the pony. I'll actually be doing some research on this but do you people know of any other sport where only the right or the left hand is used exclusively?

i know nothing about polo. but it shouldn't realy matter what hand you play with. just being left handed, makes it easier for the ball to be stolen, but the same goes for those who are right handed playing against you. i've played polo-x, left handed, not very well. but it's the same rules. i also tent peg, left handed, mean i have to ride frist, and faster.

i am sorry to say but never heard this kind of stuff before. It dosen't make any sense that it can only be played by right handed people. According to me right can also be used for riding the pony and left for striking the ball.
